What to send, how proposals work, and what you receive at the end.

1. Contact us
Contact us and tell us what you need. Send us current and relevant drawings, the fire strategy, previous reports, O&M information, commissioning records and photographs. By sending only relevant documents, costs can be kept down; if it is not clear what is current, tell us and we will agree what is required.
2. Fee proposal
Our Fee Proposals define the scope and the documents we have relied on, and state the fee and programme. Proposals are valid for 90 days and are issued under our Standard Terms and Conditions.
3. Client questionnaire
In order to protect you and us, and before work commences, we ask you to complete a short questionnaire. It confirms your company details and what is required, and identifies the dutyholders for the building. Where building work is involved, identifying dutyholders and their competence is a legal requirement; in England, under the Building Regulations 2010 as amended under the Building Safety Act 2022.
4. Timescales
We aim to start within 15 working days of a written instruction, and normally issue reports within 10 working days of completing our review, provided the information we need has been received. These are guides and depend on workload at the time.
5. The report
Our reports set out each finding, the standard (including edition) against which it was assessed, and the action or question it raises. We suggest which are likely to be the most urgent issues; the order in which they are addressed is for the client to decide. We give an opinion; responsibility for design remains with the designer.
6. Payment
Invoices are payable within 30 days. On longer commissions we invoice monthly for work completed to date.
